We spend 15-30 minutes at our kitchen counter discussing the topic for the week. We read our bible story first, pray, and then eat. While we eat our breakfast I read our curriculum-related books and we start an activity or project. It looks different each week and what we do resembles a morning basket, but we spend the morning going through the basket together and my daughter has access to free play downstairs, upstairs in her playroom or we go outside.
Approach homeschool one day at a time and don't expect to find your rhythm right away. It took us a couple of months to see what our daughter liked, and now we have a pretty set morning routine that she enjoys. Take a breath and take it easy. Our toddlers don't need too many things to keep them entertained. Play is the best way to learn!
