Hi there!
My name is Shelby, and I am a Christian, wife, and mother. Before my husband and I got married we had discussed homeschooling our children. Our own school experience was less than great and didn't provide the resources or environment we needed since we are both neurodivergent. My main concern was the same thing happening to our children one day and I wanted to give them the best education suited for them, not forcing our children to "fit into a box" that didn't make sense for them. Here we are now 14 years later fulfilling the dream to homeschool. I am a leader of a Wild + Free group where we focus on the outdoors exploring and learning through play and adventure. I replicate the same approach at home with our rainbow baby who is now in the thick of the toddler stage. I am grateful to stay home and teach my child and learn from her as well. Children deserve a childhood. Let's remember that while we teach our kids, that it's not just about preparing them to become an adult, but allowing them to be the child they are, in the stage they are at, and in an environment that is for them and not against them.
